SeaQuest Dive Frozen Deep - born for a record dive under a frozen surface

The third limited edition of the SeaQuest Dive diving watch was created by the Czech-Swiss brand Chronotechna on its ambassador David Vencl's attempt to set another world record. The successful freediver will be the first person without a wetsuit to dive under the frozen surface to great depths. The new limited edition of just 15 pieces with a distinctive gradient dark blue dial is aptly named Frozen Deep.

Behind the new limited edition of the successful SeaQuest Dive Frozen Deep collection is an endless desire to explore. On the part of freediver and Chronotechna brand ambassador David Vencl, it's an ambition to see if he can do something that no one else has even attempted, namely to dive to great depths beneath the frozen surface with just a breath and without a wetsuit.

David Vencl - ambassador of Chronotechna and his new limited edition SeaQuest Dive Frozen Deep

The Czech-Swiss brand Chronotechna was driven forward in working on this edition to represent as faithfully as possible on the dial what David Vencl will see underwater during his dangerous dive. "The light under the surface has a unique form with its blue colouring, which is even more pronounced under the ice. And the dark blue gradient dial best describes the mystical world of the frozen depths," says Chronotechna design director Adrian Buchmann.

Only 15 of the SeaQuest Dive Frozen Deep watches have been produced, one of which will be worn by David Vencl on his dive. The remaining owners of this limited edition will have the opportunity to watch the performance on-site in the Austrian Alps at the beginning of March. "No one has ever tried to dive without a wetsuit and an oxygen tank in water with a temperature of around zero to great depths. Nobody knows if it's humanly possible, and that's what I find interesting," says David Vencl.

The best Czech freediver had already set a record in 2021 when he swam 81 metres under a frozen surface without a wetsuit in one breath. This time he is keeping the exact depth of his dive secret so as not to give his competitors a chance. But it will surely be tens of metres. "I'm in awe of it," Vencl admits. "I believe in my abilities, but the doctors who follow me say that an untrained person could not survive this. Even for the doctors, it's still shrouded in a slight mystery."

On the other hand, the mystery is no longer the latest watch in Chronotechna's lineup. The limited edition Frozen Deep is based on the successful SeaQuest Dive model, with which it shares most of its parameters. A sandwich dial is underneath the durable sapphire crystal with a double anti-reflective layer. Its lower layer is filled with a thick SuperLuminova X1 luminescence layer for excellent legibility in low light. At the same time, the DLC-treated steel case houses the proven Sellita SW200-1 Swiss movement with COSC certification, guaranteeing extreme precision.

The watch is manufactured and rigorously tested in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. It features a screw-down crown, a uni-directional rotating ceramic bezel with 120 clicks and water resistance up to 300 metres (30 ATM). Newly to this edition, the watch comes with a high-end Zuludiver strap made of durable FKM rubber that can handle salt water, aggressive chemicals and extreme temperatures from -45 to 300 degrees Celsius. "I have almost no limits underwater - my only limit is time. I can't conquer it, but I can fully control it. That's why I need a watch on my wrist that I can rely on even in the harshest conditions," said freediver David Vencl.

The SeaQuest Dive Frozen Deep is available at the e-shop www.chronotechna.com or the Chronotechna showroom in Prague (Senovážné náměstí 28, by appointment only) for the price of 1490 EUR ex. VAT.
