Our watches are carefully handmade in Switzerland
Born in the Czech Republic, made in Switzerland, Chronotechna is merging cutting-edge technologies with a traditional Swiss watchmaking.
Swiss art of watchmaking
Chronotechna started manufacturing timekeeping instruments in 1946 in former Czechoslovakia. Still, since production was interrupted for almost two decades in the 1990s, we decided to completely move production to Switzerland as the brand was resurrected in 2018 to maintain the best possible quality. Our goal remained – to continuously develop and make quality timepieces.
We found our new home for Chronotechna watches in La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the heart of the Swiss watch industry, where the biggest names in Swiss watchmaking have their headquarters or factories. Our watch brand looks at the watchmaking sector from a fresh perspective, and while we accept the traditional rules of the Swiss watch industry, we cannot help ourselves and are constantly challenging them.
Assembling and testing
All components are manually assembled into luxury wristwatches by our experienced watchmakers in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The assembly of a single mechanical watch takes an experienced watchmaker basically an entire shift. But it doesn't end there. It is then time for numerous measurements, tests, and trials, which can take up to two weeks. Only when a watch passes all these steps, can it be delivered to the client.
To get a better idea of what tests a watch undergoes before coming to you, let's name a few. The water-resistance test takes place in a pressure chamber, where the watch is exposed to underpressure and overpressure to determine if the watch is calibrated correctly. Then there's a scratch test, reflection test, and movement accuracy measurement.
It is rare for a watch to not pass all tests the first time around, thanks to the skill and expertise of our outstanding specialists.
We're constantly looking for unique materials and technologies. Various techniques are employed to brush, polish, and decorate every single component. These give our watches their immediately recognizable look and feel and improve material strength, such as our DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) black coating for the watch case or a generous amount of Super-LumiNova Grade X1 lume.
We use the finest Swiss made mechanisms in our timepieces, as the movement or calibre is the heart of every watch. It determines how well and for how long the wristwatch will work. Our watches guarantee premium Swiss quality through the Sellita SW200-1 mechanical self-winding mechanism. This movement has a ball-bearing Stop second device, hours, minutes, and central sweep seconds, 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) 26 jewels, 41 hours of power reserve. All our watches also have movements that boast COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) accuracy certification, which means they guarantee a maximum daily deviation of -4/+6 seconds.
Design reflecting passion
At Chronotechna, design is brought to light by a team of people who share an unrelenting passion for innovation, excellence, and improvement. They are led by the talented Swiss designer Adrian Buchmann, who has been in the watch business all his life and who is proof of how powerful a passion for beautiful watches can be. We are, however, not only watch geeks, but also progressive people with an open mindset and a love for an active lifestyle, which is reflected in our various sports designs.
